Wait On The Right Person For The Job

Illustration: You are in great pain with appendicitis and have been rushed to hospital. They put you on a bed in the corridor and you are told you will be attended to shortly. But time goes by and nothing happens. The pain is intense. There are doctors and nurses and administrators running back and forth, here and there and all very busy but none of them seem to be solving your problem or easing your pain.

Then the hospital janitor comes along the corridor and sees your discomfort. He puts down his mop and asks you about your problem. He says that he would like to help and walks away. When he returns he has taken off his overalls and has put on a surgeon’s white coat. As he gets nearer to your bed he pulls out an old pocket knife to start the operation to ease your pain. Do you really want his help?

Sometimes, it better to wait for the right people to fix the problem. The administration under Jesus is already very busy working steadily toward shortly easing the pain of this system.

Idle Words Are Like Feathers In The Wind

A certain good woman one day said something that hurt her best friend of many years. She regretted it immediately, and would have done anything to have taken the words back. They were said, impulsively, in a moment of thoughtlessness, and as close as she and her friend were, she didn’t consider the effect of her words before hand. What she said hurt the friend so much that this good woman was herself hurt for the pain she caused.

In her effort to undo what she had done, she went to an older, wiser woman in the village to explain her situation and ask for advice.

The older woman listened patiently in an effort to determine just how sincere the younger woman was–how far she was willing to go to correct the situation. The older woman explained, Sometimes, in order put things back in order, great efforts must be made. Just what would you be willing to do to repair the harm done?” The answer was heartfelt: “Anything.”

Listening to her, the older woman sensed the younger woman’s distress and knew she must help her. She also knew she could never alleviate her pain by living her life for her, but she could teach if the younger woman would first listen and then learn. The older woman knew that the outcome would depend solely on the character of the younger woman.

She said, “There are two things needed to do to make amends. The first of the two is extremely difficult. Tonight, take your best feather pillows, and open a small hole in each one. Then, before the sun rises, you must put a single feather on the doorstep of each house in town. When you are through, come back to me. If you’ve done the first thing completely, I’ll tell you the second.”

The young woman hurried home to prepare for her first chore, even though the pillows were very dear to her, very expensive. All night long she labored alone in the cold. She went from doorstep to doorstep, taking care not to overlook a single house. Her fingers were frozen, the wind was so sharp it caused her eyes to water, but she ran on, through the darkened streets, thankful there was something she could do to put things back the way they once were.

Finally, as the sky was getting light, she placed the last feather on the steps of the last house. Just as the sun rose, she returned to the older woman.

She was exhausted, but relieved that her efforts would be rewarded. “My pillows are empty. I placed a feather on the doorstep of each home.”

Now, said the wise woman, “Go and refill your pillows. Then everything will be as it was before.” The young woman was stunned. “You know that’s impossible! The wind blew away each feather as fast as I placed them on the doorsteps! You didn’t say I had to get them back! If this is the second requirement, then things will never be the same.”

“That’s true,” said the older woman. “Never forget. Each of your words is like a feather in the wind. Once spoken, no amount of effort, regardless how heartfelt or sincere, can ever return them to your mouth. Choose your words well, and guard them most of all in the presence of those you love.”

Be Relentless, Be Consistent, Be Thankful!!

I know something about you not even knowing you that you have seeds of greatness within you!

You have ability to do things within you that you can’t even begin to imagine!

You have talents and skills within you that you haven’t even began to reach for yet!

When the end comes for you let it find you climbing up a new mountain not sliding down an old one.

How sad to reach the point of death only realizing that you have never really lived! You realize that you have never even scraped the surface of your potential!

To reach your dreams you must have a plan of action, be relentless, have a dream, and let nothing stop you!!

Lessons Of The Geese!

In the fall when you see geese headed south for the Winter in the V formation, you may be interested that science has discovered about why they fly that way.

It has been learned that as each bird flaps his wings, it creates uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in a V” formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own quite similar to people who are part of at eam andbshare a common direction or goal. They get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the trust of one another and lift each other up along the way.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go thru it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the power of the flock.

If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation and share information with those who are headed in the same direction we are going.

When the lead goose gets tired he rotates back in the wings and another goose takes over. The goose honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep their speed.

When one of us is down, it is up to the others to standby us in our time of trouble. If we have the sense of a goose, we will standby each other when things get rough.

We will stay in formation with those headed where we want to go.

Don’t Underestimate The Power Of a Word

Don’t underestimate the power of the word. The movie, stand And Deliver portrayed the story of Jaime Escalante who was an incredibly successful teacher in a rough high school.

In his class were two students named Johnny. One was a bright student and a joy to teach. The other wasted his talent and bucked authority. At the first PTA meeting for parents, Johnny’s mother asked Jaime for a report on her son’s progress. Jaime’s reply was, “Johnny is a joy to have in my class. I’m glad he is there.”

The next day, rebellious Johnny walked into the classroom with a new attitude and demeanor. He ran up to Mr. Escalante and said, “My mom told me what you said about me. I’ve never had a teacher who wanted me.” He became a model student. Mr. Escalante had thought that Johnny’s mother was the mother of his best student. His comments were meant for the other Johnny but the results were dramatic. The word -spoken at the right moment -carefully crafted -caused dramatic change. Encourage someone. Ah, communication is an art!

What Should A Father Tell His Son?

Father to his son: don’t ever let anybody tell you that you can’t do something…. not even me. If you have a dream…. you having to protect it! When people can’t do something themselves .. they want to tell you that you can’t do it.

If you want something go get it, period. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond. measure! Is our light not our darkness is that for most frightens us.

You’re playing small does not serve the world there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine as children do. It’s not distant some of us it’s in everyone.

As we unconsciously let our own light shine we give others permission to do the same as we are liberated from our own fear. Our presence automatically liberates others. In this lifetime, you don’t have to prove anything to nobody except yourself!! You need to keep negotiating with your mind to find more strength…. but you keep going.

Dream big, don’t ever give up. Help other people achieve success and you will be successful! The biggest seller is cookbooks and the second is diet books –how not to eat what you’ve just learned how to cook.

Lessons From Noah’s Ark

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah’sArk…

One: Don’t miss the boat.

Two: Remember that we are all in the same boat.

Three: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.

Four: Stay fit. When you’re 600 years old, someone may askyouto dosomething

really big.

Five: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

Six: Build your future on high ground.

Seven: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.

Eight: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

Nine:When you’re stressed, float a while.

Ten: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

Eleven: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow

waiting.

This is not my original, but thought worth passing on!

Love Will Always Beat Criticism

I have heard the remarks insinuating that if you praise people you will ruin them and give them the big head. How true this is if we’re talking about one out of ten people. But, is not the other nine more valuable than just the one? Because in the other nine of them they will be greatly helped in my opinion.

Nagging doesn’t help wives change husbands. My mother used to make a big deal when I did something right that she was my cheering section. A man gets married and mother’s not there to clap and cheer and he winds up in confusion.

The Bible speaks about speaking the truth in love. I have found that whatever you say and put no love with it winds up having no effect. Love can run around the block six times or more before criticism can get its shoes on.

Best Day Or Worst Day- Perspective

Charles Francis Adams, 19th century political figure and diplomat, kept a diary. One day he entered: “Went fishing with my son today–a day wasted.” His son, Brook Adams, also kept a diary, which is still in existence. On that same day, Brook Adams made this entry: “Went fishing with my father–the most wonderful day of my life!” The father thought he was wasting his time while fishing with his son, but his son saw it as an investment of time. The only way to tell the difference between wasting and investing is to know one’s ultimate purpose in life and to judge accordingly.
